One of the key things anyone should have is a personal development plan.

The aim of a personal development plan is to help you to lay out your ideas of where you want to be in future and how you are going to get there.

In order to build an effective personal development plan, you need to be clear on where you want to be, the skills you require to get there and how to will get them.

Once you have looked at all of this, your next step should be to identify the learning interventions available to you and how you will use them to gain the skills you require. These interventions may be:

Training Courses

  • Coaching
  • Mentoring
  • eLearning
  • Reading
  • Shaddowing
  • Researching on the internet

Your plan should be a working document, not just a one off thing that you do and put in your drawer. It should be regularly reviewed and updated as you work toward your existing goals and identify new ones.

To help with building your Personal Development Plan, we have produced a free 44 page guide that talks you through the process. The guide also looks at the different learning interventions as well as a learning styles questionnaire that will allow you to find out which interventions work best for you.

Also, we have produced a skills inventory for leaders that will help you to gauge what current skills you have and the one’s where you maybe need a bit more work.

To get both of these free guides, simply add your name and email address to the box below and we’ll send you the information on how to access your free guide.
